No! You can use all core features without creating an account. The only feature that requires sign-in is Google Drive cloud sync, which uses your existing Google account.

📖 Reading & Books

ReadingKulture supports PDF and EPUB formats. These are the two most common e-book formats and cover the vast majority of digital books available.

Absolutely! All your books are stored locally on your device. Once you've added or downloaded a book, you can read it anywhere without an internet connection. This is perfect for traveling, commuting, or areas with poor connectivity.

There are two ways to add books:

  • Import from device: Tap the + button in your library and select PDF or EPUB files from your device storage.
  • Download from Explore: Go to the Explore tab to discover and download free books from Project Gutenberg, Open Library, and more.

Yes! ReadingKulture automatically saves your reading position for every book. When you reopen a book, it will take you right back to where you left off.

Yes! ReadingKulture includes a text-to-speech feature that can read your PDF books aloud. Just tap the speaker icon while reading. It uses your device's built-in voice for natural-sounding speech. Note: Text-to-speech requires a one-time internet connection to download the text extraction component on first use.

☁️ Cloud Sync

When you sign in with Google, ReadingKulture can backup your library to your personal Google Drive. Your books are stored in a dedicated "ReadingKulture" folder. This allows you to:

  • Backup your library to prevent data loss
  • Sync books across multiple devices
  • Restore your library on a new device

Yes! Your books are stored in YOUR Google Drive account, not on our servers. We never have access to your files. The sync happens directly between your device and Google's secure servers.

Go to the Profile tab in the app and tap "Sign Out." This will disconnect your Google account from ReadingKulture. Your local books will remain on your device, and any synced books will stay in your Google Drive.

🌐 Explore & Free Books

The free books in the Explore tab come from reputable public domain sources:

  • Project Gutenberg: 1,000,000+ free classic books
  • Open Library: Millions of free e-books
  • Internet Archive: A vast digital library

All these books are legally free — they're either public domain classics or freely shared by their authors.

Yes! All books available in the Explore tab are either public domain (copyright has expired) or made freely available by their authors. We only source from legitimate, legal platforms.

🔧 Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure the file is a valid PDF or EPUB
